The Society has recently completed the production of four short films. Those films, “Breaking Up”, “The Pact”, “The Donut Game”, and “Initiation”, were written by the Society’s artistic director, Kate Twa, and by a handful of the Society’s members (who also act in the films). Those films are now available for viewing here at the Society's website.
The films, as humorous as they are unsettling, all explore the inherent power in simple choices. They depict ordinary young people who find themselves in extraordinary situations; these characters face internal conflicts and in attempt to resolve those conflicts they make decisions that will resonate across the rest of their lives. | In “Breaking Up”, Bo must assuage her drunken ex-boyfriend, James, who stumbles unexpected into one of Bo’s acting classes. To get James to shut up and go home, Bo decides to step into a back room with him. . . for just a moment. WATCH THE FILM
| | In "The Pact", Anthony and Victor make some difficult decisions following the funeral of a close friend, who has just killed himself. WATCH THE FILM | | "The Donut Game" shows an otherwise normal summer morning when Norman, a young autistic boy, and Victor, Norman's caregiver, go to a park to meet Norman’s mom for breakfast. When his mom doesn’t show up, Norman decides to wait alone as his caregiver goes to find a payphone. Armed only with a box of donuts, Norman must contend with a new friend who appears unexpectedly from behind a concrete wall. WATCH THE FILM | | "Initiation" is what happens when a young woman becomes tired of her rich family and decides to engage in what she sees as an experiment with drugs and prostitution. Despite numerous warnings from Anetta, a seasoned crack whore, the wide-eyed Heather dopes up in the name of love for a local pimp and prepares to lose her virginity at the hands of a busload of sexual predators. WATCH THE FILM | These films are proof positive that a tiny handful of dedicated people can create the most memorable films. The shooting and editing process was smooth and efficient because the members of this group were united in a common goal: to tell courageous stories and share those stories with the public.
